2010 VMFP-3 Reunion
20th Anniversary Of The Final Flight
Welcome to all my fellow Marine Veterans of VMFP-3. This coming August 2010 marks a very special 20 year Anniversary. August 14th 1990 a Marine RF-4B Phantom touched down on the runway of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, NC. ending the last operational flight of the RF-4B Phantom aircraft signifying the last operations of Marine Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron 3, "VMFP-3". We would like to invite all VMFP-3 Veterans to attend a very special reunion which is being held August 14, 15th 2010 celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the final flight of the RF-4B Phantom. You can view full details and updates below. If you are interested in attending this event please:

VMFP-3 Reunion Updates
I could not think of a better place to hold this 20th anniversary reunion then at the Havelock Tourist Center. This center is dedicated to Marine Aviation and the inside and outside is loaded with Marine Aviation history including the RF-4B Phantom on display. I am working closely with Amanda Ohlensehlen (Photo) who is Sales Manager of the Havelock Tourist Center. She will be helping to organize activities for the banquet and other activities. I will be posting the timeline for the actual events very soon and how much this event will cost per person. VMFP-3 is alone is not represented by any official organization so we do not have any funds at this time. I am hoping to do a pay as you go for the golfing and base tour and I am working on a plan to secure the banquet hall and catering and I will post this here also. If you are really interested in attending please register with us today so we can get a head count on those activities you wish to attend. Updates coming soon.

VMFP-3 Reunion Events

Meet and Greet
For those who would like to come early and have a casual pre-event meeting we can all meet Friday night at the Havelock Tourist Center. I would be interested in knowing how many would be interested in this.

VMFP-3 Banquet
This will be held at the Havelock Tourist & Event Center. This is an outstanding facility filled with Marine Corps aviation artifacts and will seat several hundred guest. If you would like to see more of this facility
This is due mostly to the effort and dedication of Danny Walsh (Photo) who was a former Veteran of VMCJ-2 and now City Commissioner.
The RF-4B Phantom is also on display in front of this building and a great place for a group photo. I would be interested in hearing from any Veteran who has a Photographic business and would like to help with this. It would also be a great idea if any Veterans still have photos, books or any artifacts relating to VMFP-3. This makes for a great time viewing and talking of old times. We hope to have some guest speakers and a few videos to show.

VMFP-3 Golf Outing
I was hoping to put together a golf outing because many of you have expressed an interest in kicking that little white ball around the pasture. This is being planned as just an outing and will not be a tournement unless someone wants to help set one up. A tournement would be involved and I would need help to do this. I am hoping to hold this event on the Cherry Point Sound Of Freedom Golf Course. If you would like to learn more about this golf course (Click Here)

Marine Corps Air Station
Cherry Point Tour
I have already talked with officials and it is possible to put together a Marine Corps Air Station Tour if the interest is large enough. I do not have full details on what would happen but I was told it could be possible to have some kind of demonstration put on for us which would be great for your family members and us old-farts that have not heard the roar of military jet engines in decades. I'm not promising that it will take the place of your Viagra but it could be exciting enough.
