RF-4B PHANTOM II, USMC TACTICAL RECONNAISSANCE
eBOOK on CD-ROM

-Sgt. Marc E. Iseli-
I have just recently had the opportunity to review the newly released eBook on CD-ROM by Lee R. De Haven & Richard Rentrop. Having researched many sources over the past years for this website I must tell you that I was very impressed and feel that this is the most comprehensive collection of information and photographs on the RF-4B Phantom and VMCJ and VMFP-3 squadrons in one source. I have had the pleasure to first work with Rich Rentrop together on the creation of this site in 2000. I can tell you that Richard is a man of integrity and has committed a good part of his life in persuit of the history of the RF-4B Phantom which has taken him on a twenty year journey. Richard grew up living next to MCAS El Toro, Ca. and never served either squadrons but has gone to great lengths to contact those who were in key positions of both VMCJ and VMFP-3 and has produce a very accurate account of the history of the RF-4B Phantom and respective squadrons. It is my pleasure to recommend this CD-ROM to anyone interested in adding the RF-4B Phantom to their Marine Corps Aviation collection.

In their documentary, Lee De Haven and Richard Rentrop have undertaken a noble effort to provide the reader of military aviation history a chronology of the RF-4B and the Marine Corps squadrons that flew the airplane. While there may be a discrepancy or two with faded memory of years gone by, I found none from my own personal experiences that detract from the interest this history provides to the military aviation buff. Former members of the VMCJ and VMFP-3 squadrons who embraced this magnificent flying machine as aircrew members or enlisted support personnel, and who read this book, will relive some of the best times of their lives.
